VOLUNTEER

Contact our volunteer coordinator, Leslie, by email to set up a time to volunteer at: rainingcatsanddogsvolunteer@gmail.com.

New volunteer orientations are on Saturdays. You must confirm with the volunteer coordinator before coming to orientation. Orientation will last 2 hours. You will be given a tour of our facility and then will spend the rest of your orientation time working on general housekeeping tasks. Please note that since our shelter has no paid employees, our volunteers do everything needed to keep the shelter running which is mainly cleaning up after cats and dogs. Because of this, your volunteer time may not be exactly what you expected it to be. Before you leave your orientation day, you will meet with the volunteer coordinator to discuss if our shelter is a good fit for you. If so, we will schedule a date and time for your shadow shift. Your shadow shift will be a 4 hour shift and you will shadow an experienced volunteer and will work hands on with cats or dogs, depending on your preference.

Minimum Age for Volunteers is 12. Volunteers 12 to 15 must be accompanied by a parent during their entire volunteer shift.

Volunteers 16 and over are welcome to volunteer without a parent present.

Volunteer hours are available 7 days a week between 11AM and 5PM. Please wear clothing you won’t mind getting dirty and closed toed shoes. Please advise us of any physical limitations when you come in to volunteer.

WE WELCOME SPECIAL NEEDS VOLUNTEERS!
Let us know of any limitations you many have on the first day you start.

Community Service Hours available

If your volunteer hours are required as part of a civil penalty or court case, please bring all of the paperwork with you. We will need to see ID, as well as a summary of the offense.
